The Story of Us | Telling Your Public Story: Self, Us and Now

Uplift and D-Light Studios resident artist Claire McCluskey are partnering to provide a unique campaign training workshop for people who are fighting to change the world for themselves and others.

We are most powerful when we know how to tell our own stories. Each and every one of us is shaped and formed by the world around us - the inequalities and injustices that many of us face influence our lives in different ways.

But, we also have the power to shape the world...

As Marshal Ganz says:
"Stories not only teach us how to act – they inspire us to act. Stories communicate our values through the language of the heart, our emotions. And it is what we feel – our hopes, our cares, our obligations – not simply what we know that can inspire us with the courage to act."

Through guided coaching and interactive social sculpture, this workshop will explore the mechanisms of how our personal stories can expand outwards into our shared collective narrative. Participants will be introduced to storytelling as a reflective action, that can be used to connect with others and bring about collective change.

The workshop will:

- Teach you how to tell your story

- Illustrate the power of collective storytelling in action

- Create a space for experimentation and imagination, in which participants will trace the intersections of each other's stories, to discover emergent patterns unique to the group

Suitable For: activists, artists, designers, community members… anybody with a story to share. Free to participate, although spaces are limited! All ages welcome.
